On the 26th August 2005, Student Alex Tew had an idea to earn some money to help get him through three years at University. The idea was simple, start a website and sell off 10 x 10 blocks of pixels at $1 per pixel and divide the site into 1 million pixels hence creating a million dollars. At first it was just a couple of friends and family who bought into the idea but after a massive amount of media exposure and self promotion possibly the internets biggest fad was born. Or was it? After hearing about the success of Alex’s site a massive number of copycat sites began to appear. I’ve dedicated this page to the ones I can find and listed the below. I’ll start with the original. |

This page was written on the 2nd January 2006, it will be interesting to see if the fad of pixel pages is still with us in a years time. Who knows? One man who probably won’t care is Alex Tew after he had one of the most original ideas for making a million dollars. |
